Brocco Power - Sulforaphane
- Balances Estrogen Dominance symptoms
- Highly bioavailable and tested sulforaphane content
- Capsules, 60 servings (2-month supply)
Sulforaphane isn't naturally occurring in plants.
Broccoli seeds and sprouts contain Glucoraphanin, which needs to be converted into Sulforaphane by the enzyme Myrosinase.
We add white mustard seed powder, which is naturally rich in Myrosinase for optimal conversion. See the conversion process.
We've also included Vitamin C, which significantly increases the enzyme activity of Myrosinase.
Wellena Brocco Power contains all the necessary ingredients and co-factors so you get the optimal amount of Sulforaphane in your supplement.
Estrogen needs to be cleared from the body in three steps.
Step 1: DIM frees oxidized estrogens in Phase I and the estrogens are passed on to Phase II liver detoxification.
Step 2: Toxins (including "dirty" estrogens) get passed on to the sulfation pathway where they are neutralized. Sulforaphane (Brocco Power) plays a role here.
Step 3: Toxins (including "dirty" estrogens) get passed on to the glucuronidation pathway where they are bound up by glucaric acid (Calcium D-Glucarate) and then fully eliminated from the body.
To graphically explain where DIM, Sulforaphane, and Calcium d-Glucarate play a role in your body, think of a clogged toilet that consists of a toilet bowl and a drain.
With DIM, you have just unclogged your toilet bowl but not the drain. DIM can open the toilet bowl but it's the sulforaphane (and Calcium d-Glucarate) that opens the drain.
Sulforaphane is a tricky substance as it is only made in the body when properly converted.
We start by selecting broccoli seeds that are the highest in glucoraphanin content (the precursor to sulforaphane).
Levels of glucoraphanin can vastly vary (see the chart and study) and it can be difficult to know the levels in an average sulforaphane supplement. That's why we source from TrueBroc®, with transparent and tested levels of glucoraphanin that converts to sulforaphane.
Using this as the bedrock of our formula, you can trust Brocco Power to give you the highest sulforaphane content on the market (up to 23mg potential).
We then include the ingredients REQUIRED for maximum conversion to sulforaphane you can rely on: mustard seed enzyme (myrosinase) and vitamin C. Lastly, the delayed-release capsule optimizes this conversion and maximizes bioavailability.
Recommended use: 1 capsule per day, before or after food, or as directed by your heath care practitioner.
Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid), Broccoli (Brassica oleracea var. italica), Seed Extract (TrueBroc®), Mustard (Sinapis alba) Seed Powder (Organic)
Other Ingredients: Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, Rice Grain Powder, Vegetable Stearate, Silicon Dioxide.
We start with broccoli seeds that are highest in glucoraphanin (the precursor material to Sulforaphane.) The high sulforaphane count is maximized by the presence of mustard seed enzyme (myrosinase) and vitamin C. The delayed release capsule optimizes this conversion and maximizes bioavailability.
Sulforaphane is a powerful antioxidant that supports detoxification in the liver and has shown anti-carcinogenic potential. The potency of sulforaphane available in one capsule of Brocco Power is equivalent to consuming over 1 pound of fresh broccoli or 3.5 oz of broccoli sprouts.
Sulforaphane is a sulfur-rich compound naturally occurring in cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, bok choy, and cabbage.
While many people are allergic to sulfa drugs, sulfur found naturally occurring as in Brocco Power or DIM is rarely an issue, but you know your body best. If you react to these types of foods, this supplement may not be right for you.
A third sulfur-containing compound, known as sulfites, is a form of preservative that can cause allergic reactions in some individuals and any ingredient that could cause an allergic reaction needs to be listed on the label of the product and to clarify, none of our products contain sulfites or MSG.
When certain vegetables cause a negative reaction like gas and bloating that could mean something else is going on like low stomach acid, SIBO, leaky gut, or a sensitivity to oxalates or salicylates. If that is the case for you, we would recommend you speak to your functional medicine practitioner to determine the root cause.
In the new formulation, we have included a trace amount of a non-GMO rice based maltodextrin. This ingredient assists in the standardization of the powder extract. The amount used in this product is miniucule and not anywhere near the amounts that are often in food that can cause GI issues.
Other key additions are vitamin C and we still have myrosinase.
